Hi,

I've been reading all your messages for a while but this is my first post. I've had acid relux problems for over a year now, though my symptoms seems different from most on here. I just get awful burning in my throat and a feeling like pepper in my mouth. I had an endoscopy a year ago which showed all was okay. I was on 40mg Omaprazole PPIs for a while and they kept it under control. A few months ago I tried to drop the dose to 20mg. Well my acid came back with a vengeance and even though I put the dose up again, it didnt help. My doctor tried me on Nexium but they made me feel ill. The doctor told me to stop all pills as he thought I was having a bad reaction to them. I have to say I dont feel as bad now as I did on the pills. He also wants me to have an acid test done. I completely freak out at the thought of anything being put down my throat. I had a general anaesethic for my endoscopy. I cant face the usual acid test of having tubes put up my nose and down my throat, so am having the new wireless test done next week. This involves another endoscopy with GA and they attach a capusule into the gullet. This capsule sends out signals to a monitor which is worn externally. The monitor records acid levels for 48 hrs. Eventually the capsule in the gullett comes away and passes through the intestines. I'm really scared about having this done. I've put it off many occasions. Has anyone else here had this particular test and how did you get on with it?

Haven't had it done myself, but what you are having done is the Bavo Ph test. I have many issues myself and need this done. It sounds like it is MUCH better than the tube down the news. It seems relatively harmless to me.

Hi miknan

I've been in such a state of stress about this test, that I'm seriously thinking of pulling out of it for the time being. I'm really scared of the device left in gullett and complications it might cause. I dont like the idea of a foreign body inside me. I know I'm a scaredy cat but can't help myself. Let me know if you go ahead with it and how you get on with it.

How did the Nexium make you feel ill? I have been on it for about a month and I don't feel well at all.

The problem I have with Nexium is vomiting. Before starting Nexium, I always had just nausea. Nexium seems to take my nausea to the next level. Darn. I'd rather have just the nausea, I am used to it. I don't like vomiting, so -Nexium has to go.
