:( I'm 38, 6'3, and weight 280 pounds. 10 years ago I was an avid runner, weighed 200, and felt great, and was bouncing off the walls with energy. My blood presure was perfect.
Im now fat, have high blood pressure, and am always tired.
I walk everywhere, so am active- just I can't seem to shed the weight- Jogging was the best way for me to lose my weight in the past- but with my new high blood pressure- i don't want to give myself a heart attack- Family members suggest i lose 50 pounds via dieting- THEN return to running. Dieting isn't doing the job- running WILL burn the fat- but it might cause my heart to explode-
Any advice on how to lose this weight?

Talk to your doctor. No one else can know what running will do to your blood pressure. Obviously if you've been a runner in the past, you have a better chance of being able to do it now than someone who has never run. If your blood pressure is higher because of your weight, your family might have a point. Maybe if you continue to walk but cut your calories down a bit, you can lose enough to make a difference in your bp. Talk to your doc about all of this. He or she can tell you how to go about it.:)
