I'm on the fly but I'll try to check in later (sorry, Nikki, just saw your post to me) -- just wanted to sign in quickly to let everyone know that the show with the segment about MS is re-airing tonight at 6:00 on Discovery Health. The person in question was originally dxed with Lupus but went on to discover she has MS. Although her case may be similar or not even close to what anyone is experiencing, (some of her symptoms are very pronounced), there is some good educational stuff about MS that is interesting for all to see. If you watch this please remember that this is a VERY individualized disease -- one of the things that makes it difficult to diagnose! This is just one woman's experience but again, it's interesting there is some good general info. about MS.

Cindy, you're welcome -- and for iluv and any others who don't get Discovery Health, the show will supposedly air on The Learning Channel (and I think one other sister station) sometime in the future. If I learn more I'll post.

I know that girl from my other board! She said she needs to make a new name, she was thinking Ms. Hook.

She is a wonderful and sweet woman with a great attitude :)

I did watch this but have a question...

Her syptoms began when she stepped on a crochet hook and they said this triggered symptoms of MS. I was just curious about this. Do things tend to "trigger" symptoms? Any input will be helpful!!~ Cindy

Cindy, yes, they can and the woman on the show actually just filled in some blanks for me. That part was interesting to me because although it's suspected that I've had MS for a long time, there was nothing serious that I couldn't just shrug off. I had always wondered -- actually, FELT, that it was possible for something like that to trigger the disease out of dormancy. I remember that when I first came here I posted this idea and I believe it was Nikki who said that one of the first things her doctor asked was if she'd experienced a physical or emotional trauma. Mine did not and seemed to shrug off the really shocking slam to my back that I had just a few years back. Turns out that the woman in question (Hope, she's now Hooknfoot ;) ) had symptoms for years but they were dismissed -- first in general, and then attributed to Lupus. Besides the crochet hook, she had an earlier attack, also when she was undxed, after an incident where she cut her finger badly on a knife.
