Hello,

I'm a 36 year old woman. For the last few years, I've thought that I may have had ADD all of my life, but I still haven't gotten a diagnosis. I was a happy child until starting school. I can remember since Kindergarten, feeling like a bird or animal in a cage, feeling like I didn't belong there. My best year was 3rd grade, when my teacher did lots of hands on visual teaching. After that year, I ended up being in a Talented and Gifted Program for 4th grade. After 6th grade, all went down hill. I had no interest in school and always wanted to be home. I didn't like "having to be somewhere." I never finished anything. I quit school in April of my senior year! I have had over 30 jobs and never worked anywhere longer than 6 months. I have gotten married and now have my own businesses from home and that works for me. I drift away when talking to others. I can't read long passages or emails unless they are distinctly interesting to me. My daughter has ADD. I'm not sure about my son yet..

I was on a diet program a few years back and was prescribed Didrex, a stimulant. I focused so well when I took it! I could do anything for hours and love it and never lose focus. It did not make me hyper.

I recently started having panic attacks and it's really scary.

Could someone tell me what they think?

Have you taken a checklist symptoms list for ADD/ ADHD? There are a few online; please try this first... Have you talk to your daughter's doctor regarding your concern? This would be the starting point if you wish to begin treatment....

Yes I believe you may have ADD/ADHD, yet what other symptoms interfere with your daily life?

This would help clarify your post...

Julie,

I onboard with Nexis. Sure sounds like ADHD to me. Many ADHDers experienced a sense of being overwhelmed that is a kissing cousin to a panic attack. I call it brain gridlock. So much thought traffic that it all comes to a grinding halt.

We need support. We get it here.

You probably do. I struggled my entire life the similar to the way you have. The problem is girls don't usually act out on their ADHD. I was over looked for years and because of it I suffered from depression. As soon as I went on the medication I could concentrate, my depression went away. Life has been great since. I highly suggest seeing a specialist about it, alot of Learning disabilities are associated with ADD/ADHD. If you do have it within the day of taking the proper dosage of medication you will see your life change. And it can't hurt to get it checked out.
