Hi, I am new here and have come seeking answers. I had a full hysterectomy about 6 years ago, and since have been on Estradiol. I don't see my dr. making any effort to take me off of it, so I thought I should do it myself. I would like to learn what alternate methods are working for most of you. I quit taking my pill a few days ago, but just now broke down and took one. I did'nt like the way I felt today. With the pill I always feel good, as far as emotions and anxiety goes. I still do experience some flashes, get night sweats, and have terrible sleep patterns however..even though I am on the HRT. Can you please share a product or herbal remedy that is working for you? I called my local Chamberlain's on the phone, and she said to get something they have called Soy Essentials. Help!:)

hello waterfaller. sorry i can't really help much with your problem as i never took hrt or prescription stuff. i do take all the stuff recommended like calcium magnesium, fish oil, flax, etc. i really couldn't say whether or not it's helped hugely as i only started taking it towards the end of having periods, about 18 months - 2 years ago, so maybe i was on the way to being pretty much over the worst of it by then anyway.
i'm sure there must be someone here who has been through something similar to you, maybe because it's holiday time there aren't so many ladies around at the moment.
sorry i can't be of more help. best of luck.

Waterfaller,
I have been peri menopuase for quite some time. I have every sympton listed. I am on medication (Lexapro) and that is the best thing I ever did. I also read Ann Gittleman's book (my book is at home and the title has slipped my mind) but I follow that to the letter. I take 3000mg of C, 1200 mg. of fish oil, I take flax seed oil, I take a B complex that I ordered from her because I do not believe the stores have "real Vitamins". A lot of them are filled with fillers of all kinds. I also take calcum and mag. I have only been on these a few months but I do feel better. Explore all your options. Marla20
