Anybody tried this stuff? I need to lose weight and want to get off metformin because of side-effects. My bs has never been really bad like some people on these boards. Highest A1C is/was 7.2. Got it to 6.2 in 4 months (diet only) then to 5.8 three months later. Lost weight (25 lbs) and bp to normal on lite dose of bp med. Four years ago dr told me to increase bp med and everything has gotten worse ever since. I quit the pb med (2 mos ago) that raised the bs and caused lots of other problems and am taking hawthorn and bs is a lot better. I've cut the metformin down to 500 mg a day and I still have diahrea from it

I watch my diet and am getting more exercise now and it seems the only help I get from metformin is my bs is about 10 points lower in the morning (around 125-128). With or without it my bs is about 100 during the day, 1 1/2 to 2 hrs after eating and before bed. Dr increased that to 2000 mg a day about 8 mos. ago and a1c went back up to 6.8 (from 6.2 on 500 mg) It makes no sense.

I would like to get back to where I was 4 years ago and lose weight again and control bs with diet only. Losing weight helps bs and bp. I've been tempted to try Rice"n Shine to lose and it's supposed to lower blood sugar - but does it help with either? Anybody tried it?
