i was wondering if anyone had any experience with anything like this? she had been complaining of some back pain and eventually she was in so much pain and throwing up. she had a cat scan at the hospital and was diagnosed with a kidney stone and eventually passed it.

my question is if anyone has dealt with anything like this? we are seeing a pediatric urologist and he did blood work and a 24 hour urine test. the urine showed a high level of something ( i can't remember the exact name) so we have to do another 24 hour retest in 4 more weeks and then have a renal ultrasound. this doctor seems to think it is a one time random event but i am just so confused how such a little one could have a kidney stone!

thanks for any help anyone may have. : )

hi..not sure this will help much.i do know what u and yr whole family are going through. My son was only 3 mnths old when an MRI showed he had kidney stones( a CT scan showed nothing).after many tests it was discovered it was from meds he was on for two mnths when born.he was born 3 months prem and went home after 2 mnths.at first we thought he had bad colic but when it got to the stage of him fainting from the pain we knew it was somthing more, due to his age our Gp was sceptical but our paediatrician knew instantly it was kidnet stones. He was born with a hole in his heart that leaked fluid into his lungs so they"ran him dry"..they put him on water meds..the stones were the result. He was too sml for the lazer treatment so had to pass all the stones..we knew when by the amount of pain and then blood in his urine/nappy.It was an awful few months seeing him in so much pain..he was on strong meds for months.he is now 3 yrs old and fit as a fiddle..no problems with stones or his development.I hope all goes well for and yr DD.Pls keep me posted on outcome and cause see.;)
