Hi all, I've been lurking for awhile.., I posted in the Neuropathy site, but no one replied. Anyway, I'm 31, and I've had pins and needles constant for about two weeks now. It started with a noticeable tremor in my right thumb, then throughout the next couple days, the tremor spread to my right ring finger (slightly). Then sporadic pain in my wrists and thumb pads, and stiffness in my ring fingers. Sometimes, my pins and needles are really random, I'll feel a couple in my foot, one on my stomach, then my side, my thigh, my fingers-just random, but very present. Other days, like today, I've had the pins and needles in my hands, then my feet pretty much constantly all day. I do seem to be a little shaky too, like while holding the newspaper, it's noticeable.
I did have an episode back in April, when I drank two bottles of wine myself. The next day I had severe pins and needles in my arms, hands and feet, and the parathesia lasted for about a month. I didn't go to hospital, as I couldn't afford it. I thought maybe it was toxic effect on my nerves due to all that wine. Now that I have this new batch of pins and needles (w/out drinking), along with hand pain, and tremor, so I made an appt w/ a neuro, which will be in two wks (seems like an eternity!). I have an uncle who has MS. I was wondering if many people with ms get the pins and needles all over their body-randomly? And do they itch, cause mine do? I already have other problems, like missing a portion of my kidney due to a car accident, and mvp w/ palpations. I'm scared, as I know the total body pins and needles signify a HUGE problem. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
thanks :(

HI there. wanted to write back to show you that we DO care here on the MS board! :D
Sorry to hear you are going thru all this. MS and Paresthesia are very closely connected. I myself, have had tingley, burning hand and fingers for over a year now and Im on medication for MS. I have a positive diagnosis. I will say though, mine has never itched! It burns, it feels like I want to cut my hand off..it sometimes feels swolllen, even if it doesnt look swollen, but it doesnt itch.
I think seeing a neuro is a very good idea. Im sorry you had to wait to do so, but 2 weeks is nothing! Really. It will fly by. Keep busy, try not to stress and worry and keep posting if you need to vent. We will listen!
Feel better and let us know how your appt goes.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'll definitely update and let you know how my tests are going. I'm just afraid the neuro will want to take his time, and not immediately order the T7 MRI, which, from what I've read, can pick up small lesions that may not be seen with a regular MRI. I just want the random pins and needles to stop.

Itchy, they may never stop. Im having a horrible night with pain and tingling right now. I know that mine is worsened tonight because im PMSing. Ive noticed that this time of the month, everything is worse. As far as the MRI goes, any closed machine will pick up pretty much the same thing. If the legion is THAT small, nothign will pick it up. Be sure to talk to your doctor about doing the MRI with and without contrast...many times the contrast, which is the dye they inject into your arm will show things that without the contrast will miss.
Ill be saying a prayer for ya....try to relax. And try icing the area for short periods of time, 5 minutes on, 5minutes off...NO HEAT. Heat makes it hurt worse!
