Hey friends.
Tomorrow is the big day for me- one year on Rebif and a whole year of being dx with MS, back into the MRI I go! I actually had an MRI on my brain only 6 months ago, it showed NO NEW LEGIONS and NOTHING ON THE CONTRAST- which is great, since I have over 50 legions to begin with...it meant that the Rebif was doing what it was supposed to be doing.....however, 6 more months have passed, and with this horrible heat, Ive had all the same issues as everyone else with excaberations and feeling generally lousy and now the time has come. This time, we are doing both my spine and brain, both of them with and without contrast. My husband thinks Im going to glow in the dark tomorrorow night!;)

I share this with you because so many of you have shared so much with me over the past year. I am grateful for all of you! I wont have my results until the following Friday, Sept 7th, but hopefully Ill have more good news to share then!

Hugs to you all.
Nikki

Good luck Nikki. I hope that you get proof that the Rebif is working, and that your symptoms have been heat induced. No more lesions! No more lesions!

Gosh I love all your guys!!:D
Thanks for so many wonderful happy thoughts! Just got back from my tests,my MRI facility has a new thing going on there....they do the C-spine and brain all in one..meaning you dont have to get up and reposition! Sounds great, but it took forever. I was in the machine close to an hour then they pulled me out, injected the contrast and put me back in for 6 more series! I was ready to scream...oh, and get this: NO MUSIC! THey gave me earplugs, but headphones dont fit inside this 'cage" that they strap your head and neck into...
Thankfully, Im not afraid of the machine or the test and Im not clastrophobic! It was a long afternoon....
I really appreciate the good wishes, I really did think of each and every one of you while I was in there....wanna play a game sometime? Picture each persons user name and try to picture physical description. All of you are beautiful by the way!
Hugs to you all and will let you know how that Rebif is working on the 7th.

Nikki,

You say Your MRI scan was brain & C- spine was done into one. Is that a new way for you guys ? Its the only way i have had my scans for the past 7 years..Seems like you had yr scan another way.. I've been having Brain and spine scans without ever being pulled out to adjust, Yep always in the machine for 45-60 mins. I assumed the machine is the same everywhere. Now i'm wondering.
As for the music.. I usually take my own CD and they play it over the speakers, just need to remind them to pump up the music, (my last one it was too low).
Well best of luck with your results. Hope Rebif has done its job for you.

Hi GG
I dont know if it is a new way of doing things here in the states, or my MRI center just started using this way....in the past, they put me in the brain thing, with the head gear to keep me still- put headphones on me, and did the scans...pullled me out, rearranged the gear and the way I was positioned and did the neck....then, pulled me out again, did the contrast, and started the whole thing over.
This time, there was a new head piece, which actually went down to about bra strap area across my chest...the scans were done on my head and spine at the same time...BUT they couldnt put headphones on me with this contraption. I did have earplugs in, but no headphones....there wasnt anything piped in and the tech never said a word to me thru the room intercom...I never knew how many scans were left to do...all the sudden, I was being slid out, to do the contrast- at that point, he said 6 more to go...and slid me back. When the 6th one was over, he was back, sliding me out and taking the gear off my body/face. It was over..
It seemed strange to me that there was so little communication, but I have the films ( i waited for them) I refuse to look at them, as I am a huge advocate of letting the docs tell me what I need to know, and not playing doctor myself. I dont have the report, which is being faxed to my doctors office- but Ill take the films with me for him to read anyway. My doc isnt a huge proponent of the reports- he likes to read them himself.
so, if thats what they have been doing in Australia for years- I wouldnt doubt it...my MRI center has state of the art machines, but maybe not so state of the art techs! I might have always had a tech who did it "old style" when this was available the whole time. I dont know....all I know is thank goodness it is over..and results on the 7th.
Thanks for the good wishes...have a great day.

Yeah. The way you described it in yr 2nd paragraph is exactly the way we have it here. Gosh i hope yr results are good. Its hard to believe you've been dx for 1 yr. You seem so knowledgeable, its great to always read your answers. Sometimes i'll read a post. Think about replying, then yr already there with wise words.. You rock.
