i have been on ortho trycylin for a little over 4 years. i recently switched to the LO and i have been on it for like 5months. my periods were off so i did what i wasnt suppose to do, and i stopped taking them then restarted so the pill would match the week of my cycle. so those 2 weeks i wasnt taking the pill at all i did have unprotected sex with my boyfriend. so my question is this...
how likely am i to get pregnant during those 2 weeks?
we only had sex a few times then i decided i wanted to use condoms for the next month so i was sure there wouldnt be a chance of prenancy.
i know that each person reacts differently to the pill but if im completely honest i havent taken the pill at the same time everyday for 4 years, and i have missed plenty of days.. yet i havent become pregnant.
but still, i wanted other peoples opinions. i would greatly appreciate replys!
thanks

Hey! Hope I can be of some help! You are "at risk", as technically you weren't on the pill for two weeks. When did you STOP taking the pills? The one thing I am thinking is that if you waited until a pack was finished and stopped taking them for two weeks beginning then, then you may be at a higher risk. When you stop taking the active pills of a regular pack (some move onto the placebos or sugar pills, but some just have a week off of all pills), you usually go 3-4 days before to begin your period. The first day of your period is technically Day 1 of your cycle. Day 14 is when you "would" ovulate. I put would in " because if you're on birth control, hormones are put into your system telling your body not to ovulate. If you ended one pack of pills, and then had your period, and then still waited before starting a new pack, your body may have ovulated, thus resulting in a situation where you could get pregnant.

okay...im not sure i understood much of that, but looking at the bc pills i finished my first 2 weeks of the pack, stopped taking them and waited 2 weeks then finished the 3rd week of the same pack and now i am just taking the sugar pills. i have the 28 day ones and i start the first pill of the week on a sunday.
so it was all in all the same pack... basically i took a 4 week pack in 6 weeks.
if i were to divid it up it would be like i took week 1, took week 2 then break week 1 breakweek 2,then week 3 week 4.
i hope that didnt just confuse you.
so if your saying that the first ovulation day is the first day of my period, which would have been last month, and ovulation is up to 14 days, thats 2 weeks after your period & i took the bc for 2 weeks following my previous cycle (starting a new pack).
i appreciate your response... :)

aww.. well you should be fine! You ovulate on Day 14 of your cycle. Day 1 begins on the first day of your period. This means you would have had a period, then you began taking your pills and did this for two weeks, correct? Its likely that your body reacted to this 2 week period of pills and DIDN'T ovulate. So, you should be fine.
On Sunday, start your new pack as you would any other time and keep taking it! If you notice some spotting next week, that's fine too. :)

:) you did understand me! i was afraid i confused you. YES you are correct, i did have my period & began a new pack for 2 weeks. so when i stopped i would have been on day 21... counting from the first day of my period. if it makes a difference we only had unprotected sex a few times (less than 5) and he didnt let go inside me. i know that pulling out isnt the best birth control (which is why we are now using condoms) but even that would leave me with a smaller chance i believe.
i was suppose to start tuesday but i think my body is a little out of wack. i started school this week, AND i just started a new job... which to me is like adding a whole other class (i have to memorize all these things & im still in training and stuff). so i think im also pretty stressed... another thing is we had protected sex like 2 days ago and im also aware that having sex before your period pushes it back. thats happened to me like a 100 times! hahaha. ok really that shouldnt be funny.
i know that if start to even think im pregnant i will show signs... even when im not. so if i dont have my period this month im just going to wait and see about my period next month cause that will be the one to warn me.
thank you for your responses! if you have anything else to say please reply! :)

Hey :) If your period still isnt here by the beginning of next week, I'd probably suggest just taking a home pregnancy test - just to make sure. It will put your mind at ease and you won't have to wait another three weeks to wonder :)

your right... but not only can i not afford it, i rather wait till its more of a possiblity. im tight on money... and last time i didnt have my period i bought a home test & ended up wasting my money. results were negative and i took them both, yet i didnt have my period. that was 2 cycles ago. my last cycle i had and now this one not yet. weird huh?

Free pregnancy tests are available at your local sexual health center - the thing about these clinics is that although they offer them free, they have you take it in their office, in case its positive, so that they can help you with decisions. But yeah, things should be ok! So if it won't nag your mind like it probably would on mine, I'd wait :)
