Hi. Not really sure where this thread should go.
When I woke up on Sunday morning i realised my thumb (and half of my index finger) on my left hand had pins and needles in it. It has been like it for nearly 3 days now and is a little uncomfortable.
I've been trying to figure out what caused this and can only think of one possibilty. I was out with friends and had a few drinks on Saturday night and i remember now that someone fell on me with some force leading me to fall on my back with all of their body weight on me. I have quite a high pain tolerance, but this caused me to roll up in a ball for a minute or so due to the pain. It was a wierd pain. It almost felt like the pain you get when you are dying to urinate but you are stuck on a bus so cant go - only 10 times more painful.
Is there anyway this could cause my symptoms, as i am aware that the nerves in the body are all interconnected.
There is also a slighly painful sensation all over my stomach and a slight pain when i urinate.
ideas?

It does sound like a nerve injury. Go see an orthopaedic surgeon. Does your neck or shoulder hurt? You probably pinched the nerve when you fell. Go see the doctor so he can determine where you pinched it. He will probably send you to physical therapy.
p.s. Carpal tunnel will also give you the numbness in those same fingers you mentioned.

I think you should seek medical advice form a doc. All our nerves come from the central nervous system in our spine, maybe when this person fell on you . It may have caused a squashed nerve and thats why its still numb. Because Its been 3 days, i would be getting it checked out. Especially if you getting pain trying to urinate. Hopefully its nothing to serious. Keep us posted, good luck.

making an appointment tomorrow. Very annoying. Found it hard to get to sleep last night.
It isn't 'numb' as such though. Slightly 'pins and needly', stages of a 'throbbing' feeling throughout the day. If i take my other hand and wrap it around my thumb i can sometimes feel spasms.
Could be so many things though. I lift weights which people are saying could be the cause. I personally think its to do with hurting myself the night before because of the fact that it came on the morning after.
What will the doctor do? thanks

You may have did something to your back (low back). Are you having any back pain? The pain in your thumb could be nerve related. The force of the weight and the way you fell might have been the ticket to jossling some nerves in your back

hiya.
Nope. No back pain.
My index finger is nearly back to normal but my thumb is still basically the same. You know that horrible sensation you get when you have dried superglue on your finger. Feels like that, only it hurts aswell. If I hold my arm out and spread my hand apart lots of tingling happens in my thumb aswell.
Unable to get an oppointment with the doctors until next week. Very annoying.
