Zoloft works for some people, but evidently not for you or me. I tried a number of SSRIs before settling on Lexapro. But it's the risperdal that relieves my anxiety. I take other meds too for other conditions.
Sadly, it's really hit-and-miss trying to find what works for you. Ask your doctor if you might try something else.

Hello,

Seriousperson is right; no one can tell what's going to help or not until you try, and often, that means persisting through several medication trials until you hit the right drug (or combination).
I take Luvox and Lamictal, a little Xanax, Wellbutrin. These help, but dont' at all eliminate the OCD symptoms.

What does your doctor suggest? Do you see a psychiatrist, or just a general practitioner?

Keep on trying on different ones. You'll find something that works.

Thanks guys, i wanted to really avoid dr.'s because the ones i have been to seem reluctant to prescribe anything but zoloft or paxil.....ignorace is bliss in their case i guess... even when i walked in the office and my dr had seen the written statment from my psycologist saying i needed something more for ocd he refused..... we live in a new area and i guess i could try another dr. but the price is hard to swallow sometimes, our insurance isnt the best. i was actually going to just buy the meds online. i am so far really leaning toward luvox. any more suggestions would be great!

My naivete is showing, but how can you get meds online without an Rx?
It's not such a good idea, I think; these meds should be followed by an MD, preferably a pdoc.

Many doctors aren't comfortable prescribing anything more than just a couple of drugs. That's why you do need to see a specialist.

Would your doc give you a referral and tell the insurance company that it's "medically necessary"?

I am sure others here will have more to add. I do hope you find a solution...and it might be worth the money for a consultation with a specialist
Keep us posted. You deserve some help with this condition.

You can buy meds online without an rx (believe it or not) they are from canada. There and in Mexico you do not need rx's to get many meds that you need an rx to get in the USA. I have a friend who gets hers from mexico and has for years. she Has even gave them to her children (antibiotics) when they were sick. So the quality doesnt really scare me. And as i said the our insuance is not woderful, i cant afford to go see a specialist (the insuance is picky about who you see and all that) then also pay for the rx they prescribe.

I think though i am going to try Luvox.
