Hello,

I'm curious if anyone out there has taken flush-free niacin (Inositol hexanicotinate) and had any decent results from it. I've tested it myself, for about 4 months, and one test (after 2 months) showed a very minor benefit to HDL and triglycerides, which could have been purely by chance. A later testing 2 months later, and my numbers were back where they started from.

I am thinking perhaps its the brand I tried at the time, as I recall switching brands for the latter test. Or perhaps it doesn't work at all. Opinions welcome.

I personally think the flush Niacin works better.

What brand are you trying? Sustained release Niacin works great for me.

Immediate release niacin does work much better. But due to side effects, I can't really take regular niacin (it caused my heart to beat a little oddly) and it also made me quite tired. My doctor recommended dropping the regular form of niacin entirely.

As for no-flush, I tried CVS and Vitamin Shoppe brands. I'm mostly curious if anyone out there has had results from no-flush at all. Some small studies say it helps... but I have yet to find a single anecdotal report that it has.

Namelessme.

Look for study results on Inositol hexanicotinate from the British Medical Journal and European Medical Journal.
There are a fair few threads on this board covering this subject with good results obtained from Europe with 1gm/p day.

Here's one for example:

Thanks for the link to the forum post on the subject.

I am aware of some of the European studies, which is why it's dissapointing (and odd) that I had no noticeable results. And I was using 2.5 grams/day of the stuff. Perhaps the source of no-flush I used wasn't very good? Although I imagine it's all the same.
