Hi, I am writing here because I am having major pain issues with one of my teeth. Its a long story, but I starting have severe pain in my last tooth on the top left side of my mouth in February of this year. I saw several different dentist and specialist all in one week and they finally concluded that I needed to see an ear nose and throat dr. for my sinuses since they couldnt find anything wrong with the tooth. I saw the ear nose and throat dr, had surgery on my sinuses this month, discovered that my sinus issues are from chronic allergies, now I am seeing an allergist. Today I am in severe pain with the same tooth, called the sinus dr who said the pain had nothing to do with my sinuses and to call my dentist, went to the dentist and they say there is absolutly nothing wrong with the tooth and couldnt help me. I am so frustrated and in so much pain I was hoping somebody could send me in the right direction.sorry this so long!

Its time to start finding another dr - ignoring pain and passing or shooing you off is the not professional and ethical way to handle this - it borders on being negligent. I would go see an endodontist or OS - but someone not in your immediate area or that personally knows the drs you have been to - you need an unbiased examination and diagnosis - and drs in local areas tend to form cliques for referral purposes and will not generally countermand or disagree with each other. It could also be due to a hairline fracture near the root that is not quite visible on xrays. If the endo or OS do not find anything wrong with the tooth - it could be a bite issue or due to ginding or clenching so you may want to see a tmj specialist and have your bite checked - malocclusion, or grinding or clenching can cause referral pain that travels along nerve pathways.
Of course with whomever you do see, mention your sinus issues since it may be partly related to this - they may be able to recommend another ENT for a another opinon if necessary as well.
