I know that something is terribly wrong with me.

I have had recollections about some bizzare experience that happened about 10 years ago...and it has put me in acute distress for the past three years.I held the memories with absolute conviction.

But now i doubt myself.I am not sure if they are real or not.

I am not sure if i am schizophrenic but i really need to know if there s a link between false memories and schizophrenia.

Hello Johnny. Have you been diagnosed with SZ at all? During a psychotic episode things happen that are completely real to the person going through them.

If you give me some more information about why you are asking and any symptoms you have at the moment, I hope I can give you some more answers:)

No,i havent been to a doctor.

My symptons are

1)I have confused, racing thoughts. They just make me feel so bad.

2)however i do not have any hallucinations.I am lucid.

3)I am not sure if this is delusions of grandeur, but I think i am really really special and so unique.I think of this fact everyday.

4)I always feel that someone is following me.In the past,it would be celebrities following me around shopping malls, judging eevry action i make.now its people i know.

5)I do have conversations in my head. They are not really conversations, but they would be certain phrases that i repeat in my head all the time....these phrases are in response to someone i am talking to although i am not sure what the dialogue is.I would go"well i suppose so" etc.

6)I have had many hours of REM sleep, coupled with severe insomnia.

ok, let's take a look at what you are going through.

First off, I want to tell you that both my adult children have had psychotic episodes, my son has been diagnosed with SZ.

The racing thoughts. My son had/has those. It makes talking to him very difficult as he will say things that have nothing to do with the previous comments made. This is because he is thinking so fast.

My son did have hallucinations, both auditory and visual.

As for the 'special' feeling. My son thinks that too. He is always telling me that he is meant for some higher purpose in life.

The following and judging by other people. Yep, that is a positive of being paranoid. My son even got to the point where he thought that the CIA knew him and were keeping tabs on what he was doing.

My son also has severe insomnia when he is manic. He won't sleep for days and will just wander around outside all night.

You must be very scared as I am sure the paranoia is very real to you.

Johnny, let me suggest you make an appointment with a pdoc. Don't be afraid, they have heard this thousands of times before and can help you with the right meds.

I won't say this is an easy journey as there are tons of different meds and also they do take quite a while to work, so don't get disillusioned if things don't happen quick enough.

If you get too scared you could always go into a clinic for a week or two. Don't worry about being locked up..you don't seem to be a danger to yourself or others at this moment in time, so it would be purely voluntary.

When the meds start working and you 'come down', you will then be able to think about the experience that has been bothering you and will be able to put it in a different perspective of it being real or not.

Good luck and let us know how things go.

thanks for the help and replies, xant.

Just wanna know if there is anyone who knows if it is possible to believe that false memories are true during the onset of sz?
