Hi

im 45 years old and have regular periods although they seem to be getting shorter in length. I went to my Doc a while back as i was a bit hyped up after ovulation for about 14 days before my period started, as in short tempered, and couldnt sleep well. He said he thinks i could be peri pre menopausal? what exactly is that please?

Also i have been suffering from anxiety attacks and a friend mentioned her Mum's anxiety attacks started at the onset of her menopause. Could there be a connection?

It sounds like peri menopause to me. Peri menopause is the time (up to 10 yrs) before your periods stop completely. Once you have been period free for 12 months, then you are considered to be in menopause. I am 46 and suffer from quite a few symptoms of peri menopause. Anxiety is my worst symptom. It started about 3 years ago. Mine is worse about the time I ovulate and then leading up into my period. There are quite a few symtoms of peri. If you scan the posts here you will find the list of 35 or more symptoms of peri menopause. Read the posts and you will find that you are not alone. It helps to know that we all have symptoms and we can share our experiences here. Hope that this helps! T.
