Hi,

I'm new here. What type of doctor would be better to diagnose fibro...neurologist or rheumatologist?

Thanks! :)

I have had MUCH better luck with a rheumatologist. From what I have heard, others seem to have the same thoughts. Many neurologists will not diagnose Fibro...they look for others things first...which may lead to a very long period without a clear diagnosis. A rheumatologist will consider fibro much quicker.

I was diagnosed by my PCP. Then a neuro and then a rheumy. The good thing about the neuro was that he suggested the pain clinic that I still go to as needed. I still see the other 2 doctors every 3 months or so and they have filled out my disability papers for me stating that i am disabled. I see my pain mgmt doc the most often.

I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist. I'd seen all sorts of people for years then he diagnosed FM in ten minutes.
