Hello everyone,
I have been having alot of the symptoms of fibromyalgia, and I am in the process of seeing a new doctor and going through alot of different tests, to rule out some other things.
My question is, when I was reading the board yesterday, someone had listed one of their symptoms as being sensitivity to loud noises.
I have been having that for quite some time now, and recently it has gotten even worse, any loud noises or voices can actually bring me to tears sometimes.
Thanks, Nana

Heightened senses are a part of it, especially for the 18 year old in this house who has fibro. Loud noises, bright lights, even barely discernable odors bother her. The 23 year old, also with fibro, also has heightened senses but not to the degree of the younger one.
It seems to be connected to neuro pathways according to what I've read and was told by a rheumatologist we visited in the Seattle area.
Good luck.

Hello, I still have above average hearing and taste etc. I have noticed that I no longer hear dog whistles. Sensativities to many chemicals, meds, foods, I can't get near news papers, or thurmal paper. I had 20/15 eye sight. Then it started to change back and forth as with other sences. Sometimes my body doesn't exactly feel. Others you can't touch me I am so ticklish. My kids hate that I can hear them in other rooms. I have never written all my symtoms on the board and the reason Cyn asked for the top 10 was there are too many to list and they change and for us new ones keep coming. This is a very strange thing we have. It's like evolution testing out new changes in people.

Thank you so much to everyone who responded to me, I feel a little better now, I will keep you all posted as to what the results of all my tests are.
The only other concern that I have is that when I told the doctor about all of my symptoms, and that I was told that it may possibly be fibro, he reffered me to an orthopedic doctor.
I have been having alot of pain in my hip, and he says that it is siataca.
But, I thought that it would be rheumatologist that I would need to see.
Thanks again

You mentioned siatic I have that and so does my husband. Sometimes you have to take the reines and be in charge of your own care. Check out the docs before you go. I interview them. We finnally found a board certified FMS, CFS, Infectious disease, pain Management specialist. To get the right treatent and doctor took us years and years. The first part is to find the doc that can dx the right problem. Good luck,

Kim & Gary - Lucky you that you were able to find a board certified doc with all the specialties that we all need. Any chance he could recommend someone in Portland, Oregon or close to??

You can see what I wrote in the Source-Of-Pain Experiment on this post. I wonder, also, if some of you are affected by environmental allergens. Maybe not exactly like me, as I had problems with my mercury-silver dental amalgams. But maybe there's other things too....
This message was supposed to be a reply for another topic. I don't know if I made this mistake, or there's an internal problem. Last night, I couldn't even post this message (because of an internal problem with the server or something like that). Sorry for the mistake, if I did it.

Darlene,
We found Dr. Katz on the Co-Cure FMS CFS Good doctors list. You can get to the link under the New tp Board... post. I posted the lik for the list. There are probably others out there to. Call him and ask if you can't find one in your area. Not all on the list are docs some are chiropractors, etc. You have to talk to them and ask q,s. I hope you are able to find one. It took us soooo many years. Good luck in your search!

Yes, I have the same problem with loud noises. They don't "hurt", but they scramble my brain. Can't concentrate, get jumpy, or have small accidents. They seem to cause "shorts" in my brain wiring. It's getting a lot better, but it still bothers me occasionally.
Bright light also hurts my eyes somewhat. I live in Florida and live in my sunglasses.
