View Full Version : bump in/under eyelid?

As of late I've been noticing that when I rub my left eye it's painful. Then one day I touched my eyelid and it felt like there was a bump(the size of a very tiny bead) in it/under it but nothing really that visible from the outside. It's located about a cm or so from the edge of the eyelid. It's painful to touch and I am 99% sure that it is not on the actual eye because I can move the eyelid around and it will hurt, when touched, in whichever spot the 'bump' is moved to. My eye is not bothered other than when I touch this spot- there is no watering, no itchiness, no burning, no vision problems, nothing. I tried to look under my eyelid but I can't really tell if anything is there. My friend thinks a spider or some insect bit it but the eyelid doesn't appear to be swollen to that extent- I can't really even tell that there is a 'bump'. I couldn't find anything online and so I'm a bit freaked out. Any idea what this is? and how to make it go away?

Could be a stye. I get these a lot. They can be very painful. My eye lid will swell some. A doctor can give you some eye drops for it. There's also an over the counter ointment that helps. Laying a warm wash cloth on your eye several times a day also relieves some of the discomfort.

Is it normal for stye to be that far up/on the eyelid? I thought those bumps were always right at the edge and were very visible. Is it possible that this will go away on it's own, I don't do well with eye drops.

Yes, mine are very rarely on the actual lid. It seems the one's that are up in the eye lid hurt worse. They usually go away in three or four days. If it doesn't get better in a few days, I would go see a doctor just to be safe. I'm not recommending you do this, but my dad will squeeze his and sometimes get a core or something out of it. He says if he does this and gets it out it never comes back. I can't stand the pain to do this myself. This maybe why I keep getting them. Keep me posted.
