;) Just curious if any if you Fibromyalgia patients that have Fibro, Sleep Apnea, (Sleep Disorders) and Hypothyroidism have come across the Dr. Lowe theory of these three going together and that the treatment for it is Metabolic??? I have had Fibro since 1999 DX after a botched sugery after which I was seriously ill for a year. Five more surgeries followed after that to date. I have just recently had a left lobe thyroidectomy to remove a calcified nodule that was pressing on my esophogus that caused me to choke when eating. It was benign..thank God,...but will have blood tests to see if I am Hypothyroid. Do any of you have this common thread of secondary illnesses? I also have RLS, GERD, IBS, Severe Insomnia and a few others. I wonder how many continue to add secondary illnesses to their Fibromyalgia. I have my good days/months and my bad days/months. Weather plays a big part in how I feel. [removed]

Welcome to the Board. I've not heard of Dr. Lowe. My FMS physician believes that FMS is a metabolic disorder, as well. The three conditions you mention are very common in FMS patients and are all part of the syndrome. I'm so glad your thyroid issue was not a cancerous tumor! How blest you are.

I am new to this board, I posted here awhile ago before switching doctors. I have gotten diagnosed with Fibro, hypothyroidism, and I have been suffering from sever insomnia. I am taking synthroid, lyrica, vicodin, and nortripyline. I am only getting maybe 45 minutes to two hours of sleep a night. I am to the point where I am hallucinating from lack of sleep. In two weeks he wants to add Cymbalta to the list. It is awful. I am only 24 and have a medication schedule. I have been taking the Synthriod for over a month and am not noticing any difference. He said that he would like my thyroid levels to be at .3, I am not sure what that means though. My thyroid level is 4.27, I just wish someone could explain what is going on.. I will be going to research this Dr. Lowe to see what I can find out. Thanks for the info!
