Last night I caught my toenail on a bed rail, the one right next to the pinky toe. It split right in half. Do i need to see a doctor or can I just use a band-aid and neosporan? Thanks!

Band-Aid and Neosporin ought to do it. Make sure it stays clean and dry, and keep an eye on it. If it gets really red or swells too much, or if any kind of redness starts moving up your foot, definitely go to a doctor.
For comfort, maybe sandals or flip-flops would be a good idea.

Probably not necessary, unless it helps with the soreness.

You should soak the toe in cold water to help prevent swelling - do this for the first 2-3 days or so or until the swelling is gone and the pain is less. DO NOT put a bandaid on it as bandaids allow for excess moisture to build up in the nail and this can lead to masceration. In other words, the injurycannot healif it is wet all the time. It would be better to wrap it with plain gauze and tie it on with the gauze. Don't apply antibacterial ointment for more than 2-3 days as this can make it mascerate as well. After the first few days, keep it clean and dry by applying peroxide twice a day.
