hey youll never believe this..but I was thinking all day about doing a shout out to you..dont like when someone stays away too long!!
Im just so happy about the news..all nodes clear!!!
I dont know anything about that mammosite procedure..i think its pretty new..but hope you do well on it.
Question..are you pre or post menopausal? that will make a difference in deciding which hormonal treatment is best for you.
You sure sound like youve had excellent care by professionals who still show their human side..I havent come accross too many of those..But I do love my pcp, hes warm, kind , and understanding..he knows how to listen too..
Sorry youve come under these circumstances...but so glad your here!!
Its awesome being able to reachout and talk to someone who knows how you feel..Ive been on both sides!
love to you too PHYL
hugs,
cj.

I'm so glad you came through your surgery ok and it's nice to hear how happy you sound. Thats so reassuring to me.
How was the surgery? I go in this Thursday for mine. How was your recovery process? Was the pain afterwards bearable or did you need painkillers and for how long?
It must be nice to be able to count on, and actually like the drs. you have. Even after all I've gone through, I still haven't even met my pcp.. although I did see her picture posted on the wall of doctors at my health care facility so at least I know what she looks like...

hI THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS..IM AM POST MENAPAUSAL AND ALREADY THEIR TALKING ABOUT WHAT DRUGS TO GIVE ME.. THE MAMMOSITE IS A SHUNT IS INSERTED INTO YOUR BREAST WITH A SMALL BALLON ON THE END OF IT THEN IT IS INFLATEDWITH SALINE..THEN YOU HAVE AN MRI TO MAKE SURE EVERY THING ISIN PLACE.. THEN FOR 5 DAYS 2X A DAY IN ANOTHER OPENING IN THE SHUNT THEY INSERT A RADIOACTIVE SEED INTO THE CAVITY WHERE THE CANC ER WAS REMOVED..THE LEAVE IT IN FROM 5-10 MINUTES AND TAKE IT OUT..AT THE END OF 5 DAYS THEY DEFLATE THE BALLON AND REMOVE THEY SHUNT AND TAPE IT UP.. SOME SIDE EFFECTS SUCH AS BRUNING AND PAIN BUT FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND ITS MINIMAL..AGAIN THANK AND TAKE CARE..PHYL45

HI Phyl. SO glad the surgery went well and you are able to use mammostie for radiation. That sure beats 5-6 weeks of radiation appointments.
We sound like similar cases. My tumor was too close to the skin for mammosite, but I had partial breast radiation, twice a day for five working days. Today is the last one..yippee!!
Did they test you for oncotype? Just curious how they ruled out chemo. I have my medical oncolobg appt in a week. I think chemo would probably not do me much good either, but they may push it. I had a .9mm tumor/stage1 grade1, no node involvement and hormone positive. Did they give you much info on why tamoxifen and not arimidex, why no chemo, etc. I would like to hear other opinions.
So glad you are feeling better and some of the worst is over. Let us know how the mammosite goes.
