View Full Version : What do you do during 4 hours of iron infusion?

I saw the hematologist yesterday and I had a test infusion without reactions. I'm scheduled for a 4 hour infusion next Thursday. What do you do during your infusions? Will I feel like working? I could take a laptop. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good book?

Is there anything else I should take? I am planning on taking a snack and a blanket.

I am so excited. Sounds strange, huh? Excited for a procedure? I am just ready to start the road of recovery. Yea!
Thanks!

No one? Okay.

Last night I spent 4 hours in the ER. I had severe back pain and thought I might be having a reaction to the iron infusion test. Turns out, I passed a kidney stone and have 2 more. Will the fun ever end?

I was given IV benadryl to offset the chance of a reaction, so I basically slept the whole time! I took a book, my phone and my laptop, and never used any of them. My advice: just veg and get some rest.

I watch TV, read or sleep. The oncology/hematology area usually will give you soda, juice, bottled water or coffee. They also have crackers and cookies. I used to bring a sandwich and fruit. Now that I am getting Venofer I ask for something to drink. Bottled water has really helped during the summer. Good Luck, kitty5518
