My mother has had iron deficiency for as long as I can remember. My sis also has a severe case of it. I feel like the doctors are not being helpful.

My mom went to the dr and was diagnosed with sinusitis, bronchitis, and a virus. Her oxygen level was 90% and her iron was 8!! The doctor just said she wasn't happy about it, to keep taking the iron pills (she has for years with no help) and if my mom kept getting so sick every few months they would have to find out why. She said sometimes a B12 deficiency could cause anemia, but didn't test my moms B12...Gee thanks!

I feel that with iron that low she should be getting a transfusion or more agressive treatment.

I was hoping some of you might have some insight or advice for me. I'm tired to doing the work DOCTORS should be doing.

don't you wishe we should jsut speak up?? I lost my mother and felt alot like the doctors should have helped more.

but what I really think is she should see a holistic doctor. doctors just don't care enough to educate people with the information they know.. they know alot of stuff and they don't share it. where if you see a holistic doctor they will spend 2 hours with you answering any questions you might have.

you mom should also try dextoing... from parasites, and candida, as well as getting enough fiber for her liver, that would help her absorbe better, he body could be so toxic, everythig is working in over drive, so non of her organs are doing their job right anymore, they may be sluggish and tired. if your mom is taking the iron pills but thye are not being absorbed, another thing might be that she has celiac. a holistic doctor can help with all of this. they are just as good a regular doctors but not a popular, because they are not free/ or covered by health care. so they spend way more time with you. they usually understand that most people don't have alot of moeny. and they make sure you get what you pay for.

regular doctors usually make hundreds of dollars an hour. so they see each person very quickly so they can get more money, the faster you are in and out, the more visits they have, the more money they have. if they do not fix you,, and you come again and again. you keep paying them again and again. and then everyone is sick, not many get better, and they wonder why they are over run with so many people in the hospitals. lol

Your mom needs to see a doctor that will actually treat her.

You don't say your mom's age but when I had anemia that went on past a few months, we had to do further tests (I am 43). I had to have a colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries, and a blood test for celiac disease. It is important to rule out dangerous forms of bleeding. If not of them are the culprit, it is usually due to a woman's menstrual cycle. If that is not the case, then the person is referred to a specialist.

You are correct in that this is just not acceptable.
