Hi,

if some frequent smokers smoke since young to old eg. 16 - 40+, will a sudden cessation cause them to have lung cancer or other diseases?

As most of such age smokers does not quit and can live aroundd 60 - 70+.

Please advise on this issues.

TIA :)

Cheers~

I'm confused are you asking if people who smoke than quit after smoking for 10- 20 yrs than get some sort of disease related to smoking verses not quitting and smoking until you die at age 60 ish or 70 ish is the question what is a better option?

i don't think quitting smoking will cause lung cancer.

quitting smoking will probably lower your chances for developing it though i would say.

some people live to be quite old, smoke, and don't develop lung cancer. and some people seem to get it anyways.

i think some of it has to do with your genes. you cannot tell 100% though whether or not you are susceptible. look at your family history though. is there alot of cancer in your family?

best thing to do is to make choices that are not damaging your health. not smoking is a good choice when it comes to your lungs.

Thanks for all the replies :) I mean a frequent smoker that smokes for maybe 20 years and a sudden cessation seems to be not good thats what I heard as most of the smoker smokes till they die around 70-80 in average.

The power of the mind is also something to consider my grandfather smoked like a chimney and was told for many years his cough was bronchitis than in his late seventies he was told he had lung cancer and died within months however agree with pumpkinseed it's always best to quit and try to live a healther lifestyle in every way.
