During a vacation in Prague, I had vaginal intercourse with a prostitute.
The condom broke at some point, but I was not aware until the end.... ie I had unprotected sex with her.

I was shocked and went to the disease clinic at the hospital in prague where I was proscribed various antibiotics for possible STDS as well as a course of Combivir to reduce any chance of infection if this sex worker carried HIV.

1) Can anyone indicate how effective these medications are (I have heard 'highly' and '70%' thrown around)

2) can anyone inidcate the risk of infection if she had this and ignoring combivir (I have heard risks as high as 20% and as low as 0.25%)

3) does the full course of combivir need to be taken... ie it is 30 days of pills.... is this enough? or is 15 days enough?

4) any help / reasurrances much appreciated.

Thank you

its soo hard to pinpoint odds as every one is different
i have heard that post exposure combivir is very effective.
i would take it as prescribed.
you should be ok if just the condom broke and the odds are you should not get it.
good luck
