My girlfriend is 18yrs old and has had fibromyalgia for about 2 years and it is making her very depressed (me too!). We're having a hard time finding a doctor to help her. One problem is that she's had bad experiences with doctors and is scared of them. We need to find some help. any ideas!? thanks

Pizza,
I agree that the right doctor is essential to successful treatment - think of it as a partnership. Ask people that you know if they know anyone with arthritis, lupus or fibro and would they recommend their doctor. Call the local arthritis foundation and lupus foundations and ask for referrals. Ask any family doctors or look for a local Fibro support group for suggestions.

IMPORTANTLY - a lot of doctors, even rheumatologists, do not "believe" in Fibromyalgia. So, I would ask to speak to one of the doctor's nurses and ask if he treats people with Fibro...

Good luck.
