Is he in therapy? Social Anxiety IMO is very treatable if the person deals with the issues (low self-esteem, lack of social skills, anxiety). Can your son come here to post himself?

he's not in therapy we wish he would go and have tried many times to persuade him he just cant talk to anyone like that, except for us of course
he doesnt know I have asked about it but he has spoken to his dad about
the feeling of someone coming into his room, I dont know if he means a stranger or us

Well maybe if he comes here first he might change his mind about therapy?

Would be good if you could copy some notes here about other peoples successes with therapy as that may motivate him. I think he would do well in a cbt group if you could find a way to get him involved in one or short of that if you and he could just do the thought countering exercises together he may begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
