was it by chance through routine colonoscopy or did you present with symptoms. If so, what symptoms did you have?

My husband's was diagnosed by colonoscopy when he was feeling nauseous and having more bowel movements than normal. Others will tell you they had rectal bleeding. Some had no symptoms at all. This is why it is important to get tested if there is any reason to believe you may have colorectal cancer, especially if there is a family history.

If my husband had had a colonoscopy much sooner, he would not have been diagnosed Stage 111C four years ago. Yes, he is doing well but he had a rough time and even now, has residual effects of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We also have the regular check ups anxiety and some false alarms. So much better to be tested early!

My husband had no symptoms. Had a routine colonoscopy at age 52.
He was diagnosed as a stage III rectal cancer with 1 out of 12 lymph nodes positive. We wish we would have scheduled the colonoscopy a few years sooner. Maybe he could have avoided most or even all of the chemo, radiation and surgeries:confused: Kathy

I was 52, no symptoms, I was late with my first colonoscopy because when I turned 50, I was having gynological problems, which proved to be endrometrial cancer, so I let the hysterectomy heal for a year because I was afraid it would hurt. It did hurt because of adhesions and stage III colon cancer, they could make it past the two tumors with a lot of pushing and pulling.
