HELP! What is going on in my body? My doctor has diagnosed me a month ago with fibromyalgia but I think there must be something more seriously wrong. Since my second son was born in May 2001, I have had every symptom in the book! But especially since November when my stomach suddenly bloated up. Then from January to June 2002
I was sick every single month, twice with bronchitis, other times a cold. In January I had a 103.6 fever for four days with no other symptoms. I also woke up in January one night (not when I had the fever) with pelvic cramping, almost like menstrual cramps. A month ago I had bad cramps for three days straight and then had slight vaginal spotting. I have a recurring sore throat that feels like I have an ulcer in my throat. It feels raw and I get hoarse, not like a regular sore throat. I am fatigued all the time. At times my eyes burn. It seems like I bruise all the time for no reason, like blood vessels are just bursting under my skin without my having bumped into anything. I have diarrhea a lot and much mucous and even bloody mucous near my period from my rectum. I am under great stress right now in my personal life, taking care of two small children, my parents who are both very, very ill (congestive heart failure and advanced prostate cancer) and I work full time. I want to believe that this is just all from stress because I know what stress can do to your body but this just seems like an awful lot. I keep worrying I have cancer because I had a cancer scare six years ago with an "abnormal" miscarriage (HCG level went up and should have gone down). I felt like for sure it must be colon cancer but then I had the vaginal spotting. My internist is convinced it's all in my head and wants me to see a psychiatrist. She said nothing has shown up so far. I last had blood work in February and it was normal. I had an EKG and a chest x-ray in March--normal. At the end of July, just two weeks ago, I had a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis and that came back all normal. I had a colonoscopy six years ago that was normal. I am on medication for an underactive thyroid but nothing else. I have lost about 10 pounds in the last two months but I don't know if that's a symptom or just my being so worried I'm not eating the same. My internist lowered my dosage once already, thinking my diarrhea might be from too much thyroid medication but I still have it. I still have to see my gastroenterologist and gynecologist but my internist thinks this is nothing. How can I feel so sick and have it be nothing? I FEEL sick all the time too, with low-grade fevers and like I'm fighting something off. I am scared because I know someone who got sick all the time with colds, etc. right before she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Any opinions or has anyone else gone through what I am going through??? THANKS!

Hi Raypatdcom,
Have the Doc checked for any blood disorders? I am not trying to scare you but its something a lot of the Docs fail to check because they focus on one or two things. I have Thrompcytopenia PurPura( spelling might be wrong) I had a blood transfusion yesterday. I have had about 6 since I was diagnosed first of the year and I am doing better. The odd bleeding you mention the brusing is all what happens to me. I actually don't have a period anymore, but then other times I have a bloody nose, my gums bleed. I get these bruises all over my legs and arms. I have blood work every other week even if I do not have symptoms. I also have the same abdominal cramps and bloating and my doc says its the fibro not the blood disorder. I use to get a strange sore throat often it hasn't been around too much anymore. I think sometimes its the blood disorder. The diarrhea I get is off and on mucosy too. They say when you are on Opioids like I am you get constipated but see I do not. Do you take meds? And as for the stress I am there too. My father died last year on Valentines day from a Hospital mistake and my mother is very ill. I have no support at home except here and at my support group. If you haven't joined one do so. Its very important to talk about your conditions(like your doing here) but also meet people who have it. I have a daughter who is 8 and she is really messed up because of my illness I have. I just put her in Tae Kwon Do annd finally she is doing something she loves and is so much more respectful and caring. She just got her white belt last night. Your kids may be very young but for you and your kids sake get them to understand what is going on with you and make sure they have activities to do that will let them express how they feel yet in a good way. My daughter at one point started yelling at me and told me I didn't love her. Other times she says all I care about is myself because I can't play with her all the time. Then once she got so mad and she tried to choke me and slugged me. We have even seen a counselor and he said she was hurt, confused, and felt like I didn't love her. She used anger because she didn't know what else to do. She also couldn't understand what was wrong with me and thought I was going to die. So please get your kids to understand what is happening to you. I am in the process of finding a book on chonically ill Parents and how to help a child deal with it. Shoot I may even try and make one myself. Read all you can on Fibro and have good communication with your doctors. Most of what you have wrote I have been there too so talk with you doctors and see what they think. I also have myofasical pain, chronic fatigue, migraines and alot of little stuff. I hope I've helped but if you have any questions don't hestitiate to ask. With Fibro I forget things alot so I may have done that here. Good luck, Raven
