Has anybody had problems related to Sorbitol. I chew a lot of sugarless gum and began having constant diarhrea. I read it can be caused by sorbitol, which is the main ingredent in all sugarless gums I've come across. I don't want to give up the gum, and don't want to switch to sugar gum, but I obviously don't want to live with the diahrea! Has anybody had problems with this chemical? I'm wondering (but doubting) if my diahrea could be caused by something else.

Yep. I quit smoking back in May and started in with the sugar-free gum, mint mojito Orbit to be exact (very good gum, BTW!).

I chew gum all day, replenishing my old stale gum for new. My stomach is trashed. I've been having diarrhea, awful gas, I'm bloated and my ankles are swollen by the end of the day.

Not good :(

But I'm not smoking!, LOL :)

I don't think that sorbitol is good stuff -- maybe a little bit once in a while, but certainly not regularly as part of one's diet. I know I'm working on getting off the gum.

I'm having trouble finding sugar-free gum that doesn't contain sorbitol. Does anybody know of any such products? (PS: Glad you quit smoking :) )
