Hello
This is my first post to the fibromyalgia board. I am basically just so frustrated now that I need some help.
I sustained a work injury to my neck area about 2 months ago. I work with aggressive children and one of them pulled my hair and twisted my neck. I started getting bad muscle spasms and pain. The doctor diagnosed a strain/sprain and said it was like I got whiplash while my head was turned. A couple weeks later I started physical therapy.
By this time I had developed pain going down the neck and into the right arm about down to the elbow. Also, pain in the right shoulder all the way to under the shoulder blade. I am now out of physical therapy because worker's comp would not pay for it anymore after 5 weeks. I had an MRI, EMG, and Nerve conduction studies. All were normal except the MRI showed some straightening of the cervical spine which the doctor said is common with whiplash injuries.
I was supposed to start getting cervical injections, however, worker's comp is sending me to an orthopedic doctor for a second opinion.
The pain lasts all day and all night. Usually it is the right side , sometimes the left. Sometimes the pain even goes all the way down through the leg. I have also been getting pain in the rib area like right below my breasts that comes and goes, I almost thought it was a broken rib it hurt so bad. My neck feels like there are rocks under the skin and my muscles twitch constantly. The pain is always worse after I do something during the day (such as do dishes or fold laundry). After I do something it usually flares up real bad for about 2 or 3 days after. This really sucks because I am a single parent and there are things that I have to do. I also have been very extremely nauseous to the point that I try to make myself vomit hoping for some relief to the nausea.
I am on anaprox for pain and skelaxin and zanaflex for muscle relaxer.
Anyhow, Does anyone have any thoughts as to if this may be fibromyalgia or MPS? Or anything else. I am tired of the doctors acting like I am crazy but I do know that this is not normal and that I should not be having this pain.
Thank you in advance!
