If anyone has any thoughts on my problem , I would love to hear from you. About 2 months ago, after eating dinner out-light pasta meal- I became very sick at about 3am. I had cramping bad and diarrhea. I thought I was also going to vomit but it didn't happen. Back to bed and an hour later , same thing. Then in morning , same thing. The diarrhea started out as water and stayed that way. After 5 days, went to doc, he did all sorts of blood work and fecal sample for bacterial and parasitic stuff all negative. Things lightened up some, but a routine seemed to start. With a sort of normal movement first in the am , then a complete watery whoosh out in early afternoon. This went on for about 3 weeks. I puzzled over whether this was connected to any dietary supplements I was taking and would cut some out and see. But things continued. Now at about 2 months out, I might go 3 days or so more or less normal and then very loose to watery whoosh out.
Prior to the going out to dinner I would have said everything with me was very normal. Except now that I think about it , it would cause me diarrhea to have a glass of milk without diluting the milk with half water. I did that for awhile , probably 3-4 yrs. and then as I was trying to increase my calcium about a year ago went back to undiluted milk. Everything was pretty much ok.
Now I am suspecting the milk , and didn't have any to drink for 4 days and no prob. Then I had buttermilk pancakes and next day started up with the problem again, loose bowels in am and then whoosh early afternoon. I am going to stricly do the no milk. Yesterday, no milk but some orange juice and I wonder if that did it. So, I never vomitted, never had a fever, did have stomach cramping before going , did have gassy feeling , and some rumbling. No blood seen , thank heavens.
I have had an endoscopy a few months back- normal results. I have been tested for celiac - not positive. I will have a colonoscopy in about 3 wks.
My docs have not given me anything and don't want to.
I have read that a viral infection may come on suddenly , and then harm the lining of the intestinal tract and make you lactose intolerant for awhile. Could be- I don't know but this has been going on now a little over 2 months. I don't think I am getting proper nutririon with the bowels in a mess. I realize this is not as bad as many experience , I just wondered if someone could shed any light on what this could be. Thanks .:)

Sounds like you're doing everything right. Trying ilimination diets with the dairy, getting the tests from your doctor, etc. With cutting out dairy, it's important to remember that a lot of foods have dairy that you wouldn't expect to. So you've got to read the labels.
It does sound like lactose could be the culprit, based on your story. You could try using a lactase enzyme supplement to help your body digest the lactose. And I would also suggest probiotics to make sure you have healty levels of bacteria in your digestive system. Now, yogurt does have them, but it's also high in lactose. So I would recommend getting them in pill form.
