I have hypertension and I take BENICAR HCT 40/25. My bp is under control . My glucose level was checked back in May and it was 93. I had a fasting level of 104 on the blood work done 6 months before that. The nurse said that reading was considered borderline Pre-diabetes. She is going to send me literature on diet and exercise. I already walk everyday and I try to eat a healthy diet. She said to stay away from white flour, processed foods like white rice, white bread, spagetti etc... She said to eat more high fiber foods and whole wheats, grains etc... I have read that many people with hypertension can go on to develop type 2 diabetes. Should I be concerned about one high reading? Like I said my last glucose done back in May was 93 which is normal..

IMO it doesn't hurt to be cautious.
Eating healthy is good anyways and if you actually try those whole grain things, you might actually enjoy it.
There's some I've read too about the 2 being linked i.e hypertension and diabetes and some literature that how medication for one causes side effects to cause the other.
