Hi everyone. Here's my problem: About a month ago, I started getting the following symptoms: extremely frequent urination, waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, urination urgency (like I had to go RIGHT THEN). I thought "must be a UTI," but I also had other symptoms: vaginal soreness that was hard to pinpoint; sometimes it felt like the outer area, sometimes the inner area. It was uncomfortable to sit and was making my life miserable.
I went to see an OB/GYN and she tested for a UTI (urine test), which was negative. She also tested for STD's and those all came out negative as well. She said I did have a yeast infection, which was strange, because I didn't have the usual symptoms for that. She treated me with Diflucan. That did not take away the symptoms. Sometimes it seems to come and go. So I called my regular doctor and she prescribed Cipro for me for a UTI because I have tested negative before for UTI's and then it was discovered by a blood test that I did have one. So, I took the Cipro twice a day for 3 days and I STILL have the same problems. I wake up every night to pee, I have urgency and I still feel a bit sore sometimes. I don't what to do at this point.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? I'd appreciate some help; I'm not sure if going back to the doctor will solve any of this.
Thanks!!

I've had something similar. Go to a uro. Mine is saying I might have interstitial cystitis, but I'm not sure if I can believe that's the case. I also happened to have a yeast infection at the same time. What is this blood test for a UTI they did? I've never heard of a blood test to determine a UTI.

Nannie8, I am having a very similar problem as well. About 5 weeks ago I noticed I was urinating frequently so I went to a doctor and gave a urine sample. He said I had a UTI (my first one ever) and prescribed 10 days of Cipro but told me to take it for 3 days and save the rest for next time I have an infection (which I thought was wierd). After 3 days the frequency continued so I took it for 6 days then went back to the doctor. He said my urine was fine but he prescribed a different antibiotic for 7 days. I took that and then a week after finishing it I had cloudy urine and frequency again. So stupid me took 3 more days of Cipro even though I had a GYN appointment the next week. The nurse checked my urine and said it was fine but my GYN sent off for a culture anyways (I wish I had one done in the first place). That came back normal but symptoms persist! I worry that the Cipro killed enough of the bacteria not to show up on the culture but left some in my bladder. I went to a Urologist a few days ago. Again, he said my urine was fine but he ordered a culture. He said my bladder got a mind of its own and needs to readjust so he prescribed medicine for overactive bladder. I've taken that for a few days and am hoping that is the answer. I find out about the culture tomorrow but I'm nervous that it's not accurate.
Anyways, I suggest you go to a Urologist.

It does sound a lot like IC (Intersistial Cystitis) ... my mother has suffered with IC for about 10 years. And the frequency drives her nuts. Certain foods irritate the bladder as well as medications.
There is a special uroligist you can see they are uro-gyn's ... there are certain ones that specialize in IC.
There is a great IC website that has literature and a forum, if you'd like it just pm me and I'll give you the link. It doesn't always show up in a you know what search. ;)
Good luck!
