i guess i have a stupid question but it is something that has been on my mind. i am a 22 year old girl, and i have a 20 year old roommate. the other day, i was talking to one of my friends who is also friends with my roommate. she told me that my roommate told her that she was diagnosed with colon cancer back in january. i am just kind of shocked to find out that my roommate has cancer...especially colon cancer. i thought that this was something that older adults dealt with usually. now, i know anything is possible...but my roommate hasnt mentioned anything to me and i havent noticed ANY signs of cancer. is this something that is easy to hide??? she has no medicine that i am aware of. she hasnt lost any weight, isnt tired, doesnt even appear sick to me. now, i am not accusing her of lying, but it just seems to me that this cant be true. i am not sure why she would have said it if she really didnt have colon cancer, but it just seems strange to me. she said she found out in january of this year, and that it was caught at an early stage. is this a trick or could it be true?!?

It could be true if it was really caught very early. It might just have been a precancerous polyp even. Certainly young people can get colon cancer though it is still fairly unusual at her age.....not impossible though. If it was a polyp, she may not have had any major surgery and certainly no further treatment, though she would be advised to have colonscopies regularly.
