Hi guys. I have pain mostly only when pressing in directly under my breastbone and a little under on both sides of my ribs. It is mostly when I breath in while pressing down firmly there that it hurts. I am very thin, is it normal to have pain there when you press in that delicate area?

I've had a normal barium swallow, hida scan and plenty of blood tests. I have some shortness of breath but nothing so bad that I feel the need to rush to the ER. Heart tests have all came back fine in the past and I am only 22.

Can anyone help me out?

It would seem to me that it would be normal to hurt if you are doing this. Why are you doing it?

I had gotten some stomach pains about two months ago and ever since I've just sort of been obsessing about it I suppose - I was trying so hard to figure out where the pain was coming from that I guess I just got a little over zealous. Is that why the doctor pressing lightly on places that hurt and not forceful?
