I have an irritated scrotum. The problem started about four months ago. I went to my primary who gave me anti fungal cream, which made it worse. Then he gave me oral steroids, that did nothing. He ran my blood for herpes. Don't have that. Then I went to a dermatologist. She said it was yeast, but she didn't do any tests to prove it. That didn't work. I went back to a different dermatologist he said it was contact dermatitis. I changed my soap and laundry detergents. He also gave me some topical steroids. This took a while but started to help. When I went back a month later he said it was eczema. When I look up eczema one of the symptoms is itching. Then it gets worse if you sweat and after a bath. What I have never itches it feels better if I am sweating and goes away after a bath. I don't have any confidence in this doctor and still have a problem with the skin. I had my wife look with a 10x magnifying glass and she couldn't see anything.
When I look up eczema it seems like it usually affects kids and usually goes into remission. I can't find any statistics that shows how often it affects an adult who has never had any skin problems.
I know quite a few people with eczema and none of them had problems persist for so long. They also said that it should have responded to oral steroids if it was eczema.
I have to diagnose myself because the doctors don't won't to do their job and it is driving me nuts.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be?
