View Full Version : HIV infection via nose after fingering activity

Hi,

I have few questions on HIV infection.

1. Can a person(let's say subject A) get infected by accidently inserting vaginal fluids(from an infected person with HIV+, let's say subject B) into nose?
Assuming, subject A did fingering activity on subject B who works at a night club, but after the activity subject A accidently used the same finger(after 1 min) to dig his nose.
I've read few articles and most of them saying, vaginal secretion/fluids contain the virus which could infect others by sexual activities.
But does fingering could lead to possible HIV infection as mentioned in above case?
How servere is this case? Are there any cases like this reported to Centers for Disease Control?

2. I read few articles that early symptoms of HIV infections are having fever/flu, ulcer in the mouth, diarrhea & herpex simplex type1 at lips & etc.
Let say if a person had all this symptoms within 4-5 weeks after possible infection, does this indicate the person is really infected?

3. What is the best timeframe to go for blood test/screen if suspected as having HIV infection?
What is the best method for blood test?

Hope I can get some answers to these questions.

Thanks in advance.

1. no cases have been reported of hiv being contracted in that manner
possible? yes.... probable? no and highly unlikely of it ever happening in that way. the risk is very low to none.
2.all it indictes is that the person has those symptoms.
the only way to determine if you have hiv is by testing only!
3. a test at 3 months past the possible time of exposure is considered conclusive,an earlier test result is a very good indicator of what the results at 3 months will be.
they have a rapid oral swab
or the elisa bood test and will follow that up with a western blot test
they also have a dna blood test also for it that is used.
