View Full Version : When will all swelling go away?

I got my tonsils out on August 16th, so yesterday was a month for me. Two weeks ago my doc said that all of my swelling should go away within 10 days. I still feel as if I'm partially swollen back there. I say some words very weird, it sounds like I'm purring almost. I also am a singer and I can hear myself being throaty when I sing some words. It's mostly "L" sounds. It feels as if my uvula and the back of my tongue are touching too much. Will this go away? If so, how long does it take? I'm sort of freaking out about it..singing and playing guitar is a huge part of my life.

It will go away.. eventually. I had to have a steriodal shot on day seven because my swelling was extreme.. you can always ask you MD about that. Other than that.. keep up cold liquids and minimize hot stuff.. the uvula and tongue are the slowest to reduce in swelling.

Sincerely,
MG
