I thought I would post this bit of info for those who have pmdd, or who think they do, and have been told that nothing can be done for it, or think nothing can be done for it, ect.
I recently visited with a new Gyno and told her about how I was currently using Yasmin for severe symptoms, and that after doing some research I believe I have pmdd. She wanted to prescribe me something new to try that my insurance would cover (I told her how I was paying $50 a month for Yasmin only b/c it worked for me). She called me a day later saying that she had been doing some research and found that currently Yasmin is the only FDA Approved BC that helps with pmdd symptoms. BUT... ALL birth control pills will help. It just happens that right now Yasmin is the only one that has been approved by the FDA specifically for pmdd.
So if you think you have pmdd and didn't know what to do about it, or thought help would be too expensive.. you should try any BC that your insurance will cover. Like all BCs, you'll have to find the one that works best with your body.. but any should help relieve the severe symptoms that you suffer from now.
My doctor switched me to Levora, which I'll start in 2 weeks. I'll post on the Birth Control board about how it seems to be doing.
Anyway.. just wanted to pass on some info that some might find useful.
