How long should we have to wait for results of an MRI? My dad had one a week ago tomorrow, and we have called and left messages with the doctor and he hasn't returned our calls. My mother is very anxious and I don't understand what the holdup might be.
The doctor rushed us to do the test, making the staff stay late one day, and now he doesn't seem to have time to let us know what it said! How long is long enough??

Did you have it taken at the doctors office or an imaging facility? I got mine done at the hospital outpatient area and got my report in 3 days. I called and they had it ready for me to pick up. I hate waiting too. They should put themselves in our place as I am sure they would not like to wait for results.

He had it done at the hospital, and we were told the doctor would have the results within 48 hours. It has been one week today. My mom talked to the doctors nurse yesterday, and she said the doctor ALWAYS gets back to his patients as soon as he gets the results. I still don't understand. We have always had a very good experience with this doctor in the past. I think it's horrible how they have kept us waiting and worrying.

If I were you I would call the hospital directly and see if you can get a copy of the report on the MRI. I know anytime I have a test at the hospital I can call and get the report without my doctor getting involved. I usually see the report before she does!

Thanks for the advice Joanie! But no need now. Doctor finally called and the MRI looked good!! I am sooo relieved that I am not even mad about the wait anymore!
