I have never had a high number before and am a little worried. My dad has severe diabetes, but the only time mine has been high was during my pregnancy but it came down after. This morning I tested and it was 141. Usually everytime I test it is in the 90's the most I think was like 104. I had just ate Arby's literally about 5 minutes had gone by, plus I had drank Mtn. Dew a couple hours earlier. Just wondering if I should have it checked out.

A bg of 140 two hours after drinking a high-sugar drink isn't all that bad...it was probably high because of the mountain dew.

But, if you know you've got a family history, plus you had gestational diabetes, why are you drinking soda with sugar in it? You have a wonderful opportunity to actually prevent yourself from developing T2 diabetes, or at worst, delaying the onset/severity for many, many years. Might I suggest that you see a dietician for advice on meal planning and what not to eat/drink? A little bit of care now could save you a huge amount of care and problems in the future.

Update, pretty much did the same thing today, drank some tea and went to my mother in laws, who is also diabetic, checked my blood sugar and it was 147 but within about an hour and a half I checked it again and it was only 107 but I went ahead and made a dr's appt for monday.

Please, Please, PLEASE, don't make the mistake I did. I knew there were several people with diabetes in my family plus I had gestational diabetes. I think I always knew I would be diabetic sooner or later. Instead of taking care of my self, eating right and getting some exercise, I think my mindset was, "Well, I might as well eat the good stuff NOW before the diabetes hits". I was diagnosed T2 when I was 51 and will be on insulin plus oral meds for the rest of my life, plus having to worry about my eyesight, my kidneys, amputations, etc. If I had it to do over again, believe me, I'd do it differently.
