Just curious, how many people read here, but don't post....

And then think... damn, that board doesn't get much response?

LOL. Is anyone just too damn tired to post?

Seriously, the lack of energy has me so down. I WANT to exercise, do more, actually GET OUT, but I just don't feel like it  I am so tired all the time..... any suggestions for energy?

Misty..I am with you, especially the week of my period...I am so tired I could sleep for the entire day. My doctor said that I am in perimenopause and that this could last as long as 10 years. I can't seem to lose this weight that I have gained and I am just not the same person that I was! Some months I bleed lightly, some months I feel like I am bleeding to death and NOW my newest thing is that I have a period and then I spot until I have my next period. Maybe not every day, but many days!!!
I have so many more symptoms that I don't think there is enough room to list them all!!!! I have at least 30 of the 39 typical symptoms. Anyway, enough of that stuff...Just don't feel alone, I think we all feel the same way! I am 45 and I will go crazier if I have to feel this way for 10 years~~~
Take Care!!

Hey, I am with you guys. If anyone can help us to get some energy it would be great.
I have been so tired the past few weeks as I keep waking up every hour on the hour getting hot flushes.
Please don't tell me I have to put up with this for another 10years.
I have been feeling so down the past few days I don't know if it is because of the lack of sleep, headaches, back pain, cramps or starting menopause or simply because I am so TIRED.

Hi Ladies,
I'm yawning as I write this - and I'm at work right now. I have found that as much as I dread it, exercise does help. I go to the YMCA and take a cycle class, and I do feel much better when I stick with it. I do this after work in the evening, and there are times that I really don't want to go, but I force myself. Many times I'm quite tired while I'm waiting for the previous class to finish and wish I had stayed home.

It feel good while I'm doing it, and for the next day or so. I try to go 2-3 times a week. I think more would be better, but working full time with a family, I'm lucky to go at all.
When I first started this 2 years ago, I did loose about 15 pounds, but now I have leveled off and gained some back. It also helps my anxiety also - at least for a little while.

Mary

((((((((Hi everyone)))))))))

I tend to agree the lack of energy really is a problem, when I get tired I tend to just rest. Although, I agree exercise would help, I just need the time and the motivation to do it.

Being back at work, doesn't make it easy, I'm 46yrs of age, and my daughter suggested I retire from work, LOL.....!:) :) :)

My reply was, "I feel old enough, and you're suggesting I retire"!!!!!!:jester:

I suppose I have to see the funny side of it though.

Best of luck to you all, together we can beat this difficult time in our lives, by being here for each other.

Take care,
Barbs.

Thanks for your reply,
I know exercise is the answer, I have to motivate myself again.
I do go for walks and bike rides but I have to make sure I start doing it every day.
Thanks again.

Okay-let's be pro-active and start posting at least ONE thing per day that we did or tried to do to get our butts moving. I think peer to peer sharing is the best advice out there..... (so all of you who are reading but not posting, START POSTING.... we can help each other!)

Okay for me- my first thing today to move my butt more is to NOT stay on this freaking computer reading for hours on end. Does anybody else do that?

Anyhow- I don't feel like doing anything, but I'm going to get myself together and go to the store and along with picking up a few things we need, I'm going to check out the diet and energy drink section. I'm going to try and experiment with a couple energy drinks first.

One I have tried in the past is Red Bull... and it does give a little lift-- however, unless you go for the sugar free- it has a lot of sugar. I have also tried "Five hour energy" in the little shot. This does work for me. I think I will try to find some today. Now, I know you can't live on these energy drinks, but having some on hand can sometimes make the difference between moving my butt and not moving my butt...

By the way Five Hour Energy is mostly B-vitamins for anyone who wants to try it. The small shot is easy to get down.

Then-- my GOAL (how pathetic is this, LOL) is to take my dog on a 20 minute walk. This will be more than I did yesterday as far as physical activity or being pro-active with this "slump".

Later I will post my results. By the way, I'm only going to drink the energy drinks if I need them. But I will post about the different ones I try.

Come on ladies.... if you are feeling crappy-- set one small goal for today to do one pro-active thing, and then tell us about it.... no matter how small it may seem. Baby steps can get us to where we want to be.

I hope others will join in.....

I'll be back

Okay, don't shoot me now, a low dose of adderall does wonders and helps with the brain fog too.:)

Shoot you? I want to know about it! Did you get it from your gyn? I am not opposed to taking Rx stimulants. I already seek out OTC stuff-- like Five Hour Energy.

So that is what I bought yesterday. For those waiting with baited breath on how I did yesterday, LOL I passed. But instead of dog walking I did 10 mins on the eliptical. Don't laugh, the thing is hard in the beginning, it takes me two weeks to build up to 30 mins, and that's doing it most every day.

Todays goal is ten minutes on that thing again.
I can say I'm not feeling the love for it right now.... but maybe after 2-3 more cups of coffee.

ps- How come nobody is joining in? Are you all at the gym? :D

Hi Vickie,

Thanks for responding. Well it sounds like the Vit b-12 works for you! Glad to hear it. Five Hour Energy is mostly all B-vits so there must be something to b-12 and energy.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. Teens can be so stressful! Think about it though, she is going through hormonal changes too. Awhile back More magazine had a piece on "Mom's in menopause, daugher is in pubery, dad is in hell"

My bloodwork says I'm post meno... so I am waiting for that menopause zest that I hear about. Never thought I'd be post meno at 44 but here I am.

No hrt for me. I'm too concerned about breast cancer risk and clots. I'm using Lexapro and trying to treat symptoms as they come up.

Right now I just want more energy........

I had to laugh at your comment wondering how many people read here but don't post.

I posted something on another board which was read TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTYTHREE times, but not one person left a reply or comment !

It does make you wonder whether it's worth bothering.

ANYWAY, to your query.....My hot flushes *seem* to have disappeared after about two and a half years. It may be coincidence, but a friend suggested I cut out milk and replace it with soya. What a turnaround. After my milky coffee in a morning, I would immediately feel lethargic, but now with soya, that feeling has gone, so have the hot flushes, and so have the spots!!

It's worth a try! ;)

Good luck.

MISTY.
my gyn is doing pelvic ultra sound first then wants to talk to me about the HRT from what i hear they are safe no breast cancer nor clots in my family so now im confused i cant handle anti d's the only one i found that worked for me was the zoloft but anti d's dont replace the hormones we loose and i too am in post meno and for me its horrid unless its stress also i cry and im depressed and im crabby and have them terrible panic attacks so im going to hear what gyn says about HRT before i take them my sister just started on hers my mom took them for a yr and shes 71 now and had no probs at all.im 45 and i lost 1 ovary and tube in jan 2006 other then the crying thats all except for my fainting but im seeing a nero dr for that along with the headaches ,my plan today is
1.clean house
2.take a shower
3.go get my daughter from hospital
im so happy shes coming home they put her on meds zoloft 25mg and says they think its bipolar since it does run in my family
but im going to do whatever it takes to make us closer as a family my gyn is sending a pamplet to my husband so he can read up on menopause so he will try to understand what im going through .
id love to take the dog for a walk but to scared id faint but hopeing the nero dr figures out whats causeing this can severe panic cause fainting /falling down spells ???
and misty would those drinks you mentioned hurt me if i take b/p meds and the xanax and darvacets???
also if im on 3 -1 mg xanax a day for panic can that cause the fainting???
i was told by the psychiatrist it wouldnt but i dont know i been on them allmost 2 yrs ,so in your opinion which is better for us HRT or anti d'd???

Hello, I just wanted to say that I have the same lack of energy and sleeplessness that you all are talking about. Last month I finally went to talk to my dr. about it and found out that I am anemic (hope I spelled that right) anyway he suggested I take a multi-vitamin with iron. Since I can't seem to swallow those huge pills I started taking a children's chewable and it has helped...I feel a lot better...still have trouble sleeping though.
