Hello everyone. I know find helpful posts but I am wondering if you become more depressed reading about all of the people in pain and to know that there is no cure. I don't know how to accept that I may live the rest of my life like this. I want to be able to do things with my daughter Sara. She is 4 but has much older siblings to do things with her. I am thankful for that, however it is so hard to explain what I am going through with my little girl. I am even taking paxil, but it does not help a lot. Please help me with some coping strategies. Is it hard for any of you to read this post without becoming affected by it? Kathy

Kathy, I know this may sound really bad but I like to read these posts. This is the terrible part. I see people who are much worse off than I am and I feel grateful that I "only" have muscle spasms--fibro and mps. I feel really bad that people are so miserable. Before I found this board I had no one to talk to. Now I log on three times a day to see what people are saying. It's like I have someone to talk to again. We share med info, have someone to bounce our problems off of. We rant and rave. On the other hand, we boost each other up and commiserate with each other. So, for me, I now have something to look forward to. I even have moments where I wonder what someone from the board is doing. Right now I'm dying of couriosity about MookieMikes big announcement! Everyone gets different benefits from different things.

As for you daughter, just do the best you can. You can't do any more than that. Take your rests when she takes her rests. Then you will be fresher for her. Let your house go. Who cares if it is dusty. Your kids are priority and the rest can take care of itself.

Hi Kathy....some people do live with worse things. I am so thankful to atleast have both my arms and legs and I can see, hear, taste and smell things. I'm not trying to belittle fibromyalgia, but I guess it's all in how you look at life...that counts.
Like they say...is your glass half empty...or half full?
It IS sad to read of how much pain people are in. but that's what these boards are here for, so we can lean on each other through those bad times.
"Within every dark cloud, there is always a silver lining."
We just have to think positive thoughts and always keep looking for the good things life has to offer. We may not be able to run and play with our kids, but there are alot of other things we can do. And anytime spent with our children...is always quality time...and wonderful memories to charish, for both.
Life is very short...too short to be dwelling on anything negative. Take things day by day and learn to appreciate all those little things that you CAN do....you'll be ok.
sincerely,
cat

Thanks Tolern, you said it much better than I did. Sorry about the double note. I don't know how to repair my submissions.

Thank you for helping me see things in a more positive way. No one can relate to me like everyone on these posts. I am thankful there is someone who understands and tries to help you with their experiences. My husband has always said I worry too much and need to count my blessings. Sorry, I guess I was feeling rather low. Thanks to all of you for your wisdom and support. Kathy

Kathy,
There is a cure for fibromyalgia. It may not officially have been discovered yet. But it's out there....
Since doctors could not help me, I spent decades trying this food, that food, these supplements, those supplements, etc., etc. I tried every safe natural thing that I could to try to help.
It's a long story that many people have heard me say before, but I'm cured of these fibromyalgia type of pains. I first changed to a healthy natural foods diet. Then over the years, I took copious amounts of herbs. After my tooth broked and exposed a dental amalgam, my muscle pains got worse (plus other things like headaches), so I decided to have all of those mercury-silver dental amalgams replaced with less toxic ones (that was about nine years ago).
For me, it was a combination of (trying to) exercise, diet, herbs, and the eventual removal of poisonous substances in my mouth that cured me to this day. I now run nearly 20 miles a week. A doctor told me to not run more than a 100 yards in 1978.
Keep trying is my message.... What worked for me, may not work for you or others, but I believe that somehow a better diet, herbs, and the removal of toxins can at least help for some people. I'm 52 years of age, and I'm like a kid again. It's wonderful....after years and years of misery.
Do you or others really want to get well? Try researching "natural cure". Natural cure is putting the body in the best position to heal itself. What's best is the tough question and takes lots of time to understand, as each of us is different.

I should add....
What's best? Try doing everything best.
Everything! :)
Things like:
1) Healthy diet to the extreme - no cookies, cakes, ice cream, sodas, alcoholic beverages, pastries etc.
2) No smoking
3) Removal of all sources of toxins and exposure to toxins.
4) Research herbal therapy, with its antioxidants and healing properties.
Keep working at perfection, including stress management, and relaxation techniques etc. It's doesn't start out great at first. It takes months and years of trying this improvement or that improvement. In the course of time, you and others can note where any of this helps. In the areas of improvement, emphasize that lifestyle change.
Yes, people will think we are nuts :), when we refuse those donuts or when we follow a strict diet, but I believe it can pay off for some of us that are dedicated at trying to get well.
