My FIL with Alzheimers was rushed to hospital in an ambulance yesterday after having a seizure. He went deathly pale and then began convulsing violently. He was unable to answer me when I called to him and was barely able to maintain consciousness. He has a slightly enlarged heart, irregular heat rythm, Diabetes type 2, hypertension and Glaucoma. Straight after the seizure the ambulance officers found he had very low blood pressure and his pulse was very irregular. At the hospital they did every X-ray, Scan and blood test they could think of. The tests showed nothing abnormal apart from his existing health conditions. I was told that he had all the classic symptoms of Parkinsons disease on top of the Alzheimers. Has anyone out there had experience with seizures associated with Alzheimers or a loved one with both Alzheimers and Parkinsons. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there What a frightening experience for you!!

I do have 2 residents with Parkinsons & Dementia (not necessarily Alzheimers) the two do go hand in hand because it's a brain dysfunction.

Explore all the possibilities with his doctor for medications that will help and not hinder. It can be tricky.

Goodluck .. my heart is with you.

My Mother has both...we were told they often go hand-in-hand. Now I'm used to seeing that clenched little fist held against her chest....that same little fist used to paint the most beautiful pictures!

One thing I've become very aware of........use or find your talents NOW!

Very well put Pam - I just wish I could find or use my talents now. I'm so tired of searching. People who find their niche in life are the very fortunate ones.:)
