Hi,
Have any of you tried the antidepressant Lexapro for your fibro symptoms? If so how did it go?

Hi I am new to this board but I saw your post and thought I would reply. I was on Prozac for depression and Fibro during the fall of 2002. Due to the sexual side effects (meaning lack of libido, my hubby really hated this side effect) I switched to Lexapro. Within a week I was crying and *****y all the time. I gave it a month but it never got better so I switched back to Prozac. Lexapro did absolutely nothing for me, but everyone is different. angie

I am about to go to the dr. to ask to get switched from Zoloft to Wellburtin for the same "lack of libido" sife effect. I had read awhile back somewhere that Wellburtin did not have that side effect. Has any of the ladies reading this switched from another antidepressant for that reason to Wellbutrin and like the results?

On Wellbutrin I just was so apathetic. I really didn't care about anything. That feeling for me is so much worse than the lack of sex drive. They could have told me my whole family had been killed in a horrible car wreck and they would have gotten no reaction from me at all. Gosh it seems like I have tried them all and just keep going back to Prozac. angie

Angie,
Thanks for the info! I went to my Dr. today and she didn't want me to take Lexapro. She said that she had been to a clinic on it and that is was originally made for bi-polar disorder and that there were side effects. She said she hadn't had much luck treating FM with it.
Believe it or not she wants me to try Prozac! So I was glad to see that you were having good luck with it. Did you have side effects on Prozac when you started?
Thanks for your input!
Kathy

About the only side effect I can think of is fatigue at the beginning oh and the lack of libido. The fatigue can be lessened by starting on a low dose and working your way up to what works for you. I am on 40 mg, one pill at night. Now they offer a once a week pill so maybe that would be different. What has helped me as much as anything is zanaflex and neurotin, those two pills have really improved my life. Hope this helps, angie
