View Full Version : Still need meds advice!

I just read a post that mentioned the drug "talomil" but I can't seem to find it on WebMD or RXlist, is there a different spelling? I have SZ, PTSD, anxiety disorder and personality disorder...I am desperate to find a different medication than the ones I was on. I was taking Lamictal to 'even out' my mood swings and Geodon for the psychosis. The Lamictal made me gain weight - more than 20 pounds!! - and the Geodon was making me lose quite a bit of hair. So after complaining for a couple of months to my psych dr, she allowed me to stop those. My symptoms are coming back real bad, I'm irritable, anxious, feeling paranoid, see things in the corner of my eyes, hear things...arrrgh. I'm really hoping for some meds advice because although my dr gave me a list of drugs to look up, they all seem to have really bad side effects and if real people are out there taking good medications I would like to know what they are so I can have some ideas to discuss with the dr. Anyone try Abilify? Someone told me Lithium interacts with coffee and high blood pressure meds - so that's out because I drink coffee and take BP meds. I just don't know what to think about what to try, I just know I'm slipping a little more every day. Thanks...

It's a horrible situation to be in. All anti-psychotic meds can have terrible side effects, sadly. What works for one and is tolerable won't be the same for another. My son has SZ, he tried about 8 different meds and is now off them all because of the side effects, and is slipping too.

My daughter is also SZ but can tolerate Seroquel with no issues at all, which my son couldn't.

I think it really is a case of trial and error, don't give up. Keep trying different ones and let them get up to a theraputic level before giving up on them, you might find that after a while your body can take them better. I think Talomil is an anti-depressant, not sure if it's used to treat psychosis too.

Good luck, hope you can find something to help.
