I'm sort of confused with my two A1c tests. June of this year i went to my doctor for rutein blood work on my clolesterol and and thyroid i fasted for about 12 hours all my blood work came back normal except my blood sugar was at 130 my doctor ask me to come back for fasting blood sugar test two days later I went in and it was at 169. My doctor again ask me to come in for a A1c test and it was at 6.0 he told me to go on a diet and exercise and come back in three months. Well i just had another A1c test on Sept 17th and i just got my results it was at 5.1 and to tell you the truth I cut down a little but not that much. Can anyone tell my why my A1c droped so much in three months. Oh yeah i bought a meter from Walgreen it's there brand and took my bs twice a day for over a month and my bs was as high as 221 and in one month i had readings from 140's to 200's after at least 2 hours after eating and my morning reading aveage was 125 (25 tests in am) I'm not sure if i should buy more strips and keep on testing or just wait until i do my rutein testing in a year? Thanks for your input...

Wow- that's dramatic change in A1C. But your meter may not be correct. Does your meter come with calibrating solution? Mine says to check the calibration with this red fluid each time I start a new container of test strips. Also, mine needs to be set to the code number on the strips container. Be certain that's all in line, or you can get incorrect readings.

Otherwise, you'll need to have a good, long chat with your doctor and/or the diabetes educator in your doctor's practice. Beyond that I couldn't presume to advise you.

Good luck! let us know how it comes out.

Ann
