View Full Version : Building muscle with possible dieting woes

To put it simply, my situation in the body building department of my life is a bit hard. I'm not sure where to start, how to start, and how I can fit proper eating habits into my schedule. I'm 19 with a very active metabolism, but I only weigh about 170lbs @ 6'3". My goal is around 190-200lbs after building muscle up.

An overview of my daily schedule:

I work [removed] in the evenings, so for 5 days a week I'm constantly lifting boxes up to 70 lbs. (70+ in some cases). My muscles don't have a chance to rest in between days as would be required by a proper workout (upper body one day, lower body the next, etc.) The only thing I can think of is to add in workout routines in the mornings/afternoons on top of what I already go through at work, because I haven't really bulked up from my job in months, my body has just gotten used to the workout.

Now for the diet process. My mornings usually consist of a bowl of cereal, a banana, or a bagel with some orange juice. It's obvious my body wants more because I'm hungry again within 2 hours. In the afternoon I'll usually graze on whatever is in the house, which consists of junky food half the time. I trundle off to work around 5pm and get home around 11pm-12am, way late in terms of dinner time. Half the time I don't eat anything and just go to sleep. When I do eat it's some kind of microwaved TV dinner, fish and macaroni or lasagna. Or I'll just eat a bowl of ice cream (very, very bad, I know!)

Right now I'm not sure how to start. I've been running 2-3 times a week for the past few weeks now and trying out new workout routines, I just need to get the dieting process in gear. But with my bad eating habits and poorly timed job hours, it's like throwing a wrench into the grand scheme of things. Has anybody had any experience with this and possible ways to make it work?
